Two-step verification

Here you turn on two-step verification for your account: besides the password, signing in will ask for a 6-digit code. That way a stolen password is not enough to get in. Some companies require it of all their users.

1. What is on the screen

The «Two-Step Verification» block with its status («Inactive» until you turn it on) and the «Set up two-step verification» button.

2. Turn it on with an authenticator app

1. Press «Set up two-step verification» and choose “Authenticator App”.

2. Install Google Authenticator, Authy or another compatible app on your phone.

3. Scan the QR code shown with it (or type in by hand the key shown below it).

4. Enter the 6-digit code the app shows and press “Verify”.

5. Keep the “Backup Codes” somewhere safe: each one works once if you lose your phone.

3. Turn it on with an email code

If you do not want to install anything, choose “Email Code”: each time you sign in you will receive a code by email. It is more convenient but less secure than the app, because anyone who gets into your email also receives the code.

4. If you lose your phone or want to turn it off

When signing in, use one of your backup codes instead of the app's code. From this screen you can generate new codes (the old ones stop working) or turn verification off; turning it off asks for your password and a code.
