Exposure Groups (GES/SEG)

A similar exposure group (GES/SEG) brings together the workers exposed to the same chemical in a similar way, so that their exposure is assessed and measured once per group instead of person by person. The demo has no groups yet.

1. What is on the screen

At the top, “Nora's Recommendations” flags groups that need attention; if all is well it says “No issues detected”.

“Detailed View” holds “Total Groups”, “Active Groups”, “Total Workers” (assigned to some group) and “With Risk Assessment”. Below is the list of groups, with “Filters”; while there are none it says “No exposure groups found”.

2. Creating a group

1. Click “Create Exposure Group”.

2. Choose the “Chemical” first: the rest of the form is filled in from it.

3. Give the “Group Name” and where they work: “Workplace Center”, department and area.

4. Under “Exposure Characteristics” describe the scenario, the work area, the tasks (separated by commas), the duration and the “Exposure Frequency” (daily, weekly, monthly or occasional).

5. Leave the “Status” as active (inactive groups do not appear in exposure assessments) and click “Create”.

3. Assigning workers and measuring

1. Open the group. Under “Assigned Workers” click “Assign Worker” and choose each exposed person; “Unassign” removes them.

2. Exposure measurements (concentration, activity, controls applied and corrective actions) are recorded on the chemical's page, in its exposure tab.

For a CMR substance, this group is the register of exposed workers that its checklist asks for.

4. Permissions

Creating groups or assigning workers requires write permission. The Chemical management module is open by default to editors and administrators; a read-only user sees the notice “This module is switched off”.
