Bulk import
«Import data» loads from a CSV or Excel file what you would otherwise type one by one: workplaces, departments, positions, people, equipment, contractors and worker certifications.
1. What you can import and in which order
Each card is a type of data with its number of columns and two buttons, «Import» and «Download template»: «Contractors», «Departments», «People», «Equipment and machinery», «Job positions», «Worker certifications» and «Workplaces».
As the screen says, order matters: workplaces first, then departments and positions, and finally people and equipment, which rely on the earlier ones.
2. Prepare and upload the file
Click «Download template» to get the exact columns and fill it in. Then click «Import» on that card and, on the importer screen, “Choose a file”: CSV or Excel (.xlsx) up to 20 MB. If the workbook has several sheets, only the first is read.
The importer shows each field next to the column of your file that matches it and an example. Correct any that do not fit (required fields must have a column) and click “Check”.
3. Review and import
The check tells you how many rows there are, how many will be created, how many updated and how many have errors. Under “If a row already exists” choose between stopping and warning you, updating the existing one or skipping it. Rows with errors are listed with their line, field and reason, and can be downloaded with “Download errors as CSV”.
The import is all or nothing: if one row fails, none is saved. When it finishes, “Import completed” sums up what was created, updated and skipped.
4. Other ways in and permissions
The same importers open from the “Import” button on their screens: Workforce, Work Equipment and Departments. Importing needs edit permission.
