Return-to-work plans

“Return-to-work plans” organises a phased return after an absence, week by week, with hours, duties, adjustments and review dates. The employee, their manager and the health service can see it, and nothing in it is clinical.

1. Creating a plan

Press “New plan” or, from an absence, “Plan return to work”. Choose the person, the first day and write a short summary. Do not record medical details: describe the work, not the health.

2. Adding steps

In the plan press “Add step”: the week, the hours per week, the duties, the adjustments (for example, no work at height or regular breaks) and the review date. Each week has one step. You can edit or remove steps while the plan is active.

3. Reviews and reminders

Two days before each review date the employee, their manager and the person who created the plan get a reminder. “Review due” counts the plans with a review in the next seven days or already past.

4. Closing the plan

When the phased return ends, choose “Complete plan” under “More”. If it is no longer needed, choose “Cancel plan”. A closed plan cannot be changed. The employee sees their plan in “My return to work”, inside My space.
