Facility maps (GIS)

1. The list of maps

A freshly seeded demo has no maps: «Total Maps» is 0 and the screen says «No maps». Once there are some, the list shows each map with its name, type and number of locations; «Filters» filters by workplace or map type and the search by name. Click a map to open it.

2. Create a map

Click «Create Map». The “Name”, the “Type” (geographic, floor plan, site map, evacuation plan, risk heat map, asset map or CAD plan) and the “Map image” are required: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP or PDF up to 50 MB. The “Workplace Center” and the “Description” are optional; leave “Active map” ticked. “Create” saves the map and opens it.

3. Mark locations, zones and routes

On the map, “Add Elements” has three tools. “Add Location”: one click places a point (extinguisher, exit, first-aid kit, assembly point, hazard…) with its name and type. “Add Safety Zone”: draw a polygon of at least 3 points (safe, danger, restricted zone…). “Add Emergency Route”: draw a line of at least 2 points.

Positions are stored as a percentage of the image, so they stay in place if the image size changes.

4. See risks and incidents, and permissions

In view mode the map draws locations, zones and routes with one colour per type, with their counts; click a location to see its details. Below, the heat map places the risk assessments and incidents that have a position on that plan; the incident layer can be hidden. The map can be printed.

Creating maps and placing or editing elements needs edit permission; without it, maps are read-only. If your role does not have the GIS maps module, you see “This module is switched off”.
